School Associations
School Association / Schulverein
The Independent Bonn International School is a private school and is, under German law, a non-profit organisation known as an "eingetragener Verein (e.V.)". All parents are eligible to become members of the School Association. It is managed by a Board of up to 11 governors, six of whom are elected by the members of the Association and three of whom the Board may co-opt. The staff elects a representative and the Headteacher is also a member. Parents are actively encouraged to participate in the work of the Board of Governors which usually meets at least once a month and is responsible for establishing school policy and for the overall management of the school. An Annual General Meeting of the Association is held at the school, usually in the summer term, and an interim meeting takes place in January.
Support Association / Förderverein
This association was established in August 2001.
The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)
The aim of the PTA is to foster good relationships between all parts of the school community. All parents and teachers are automatically members of this Association and everyone is welcome to get involved. The PTA elects a committee which organises fund-raising and social activities for the children, parents and the whole family.
A wide range of PTA activities includes a welcome barbecue for new families in September and a very successful Summer FĂȘte. These and many other activities involve various people in our school community and are very much appreciated.
The PTA is also responsible for providing a Room Mother for each class. The Room Mother works with the teacher when additional help and support is needed for class activities and is also a most valuable first reference point for new families. The PTA also runs the Uniform Shop.
